Read Across America Day
March 2nd
Each year readers world wide honor Dr. Seuss’ birthday March 2nd by celebrating with Read Across America and Riverbend is no exception. Each year during this week, we have a Book Fair to provide new and exciting books to students, their classrooms, and the Media Center. But the fun doesn’t stop there! Students this past week enjoyed many Seuss-tastic activities from reading with a buddy, reader’s theater, guest readers, puzzles, games, and even Hat Day! In preparation for Read Across America Day, students were presented with a challenge to take a Wacky Reading Picture and submit it to the Wacky Reading Contest. There were many unique and inventive submissions! The two Wackiest Readers received a $20 gift certificate to the Book Fair. Our winner from K-2 grades was Kelsey Reilly and from 3-5th grade was Wyatt Ferguson! Congratulations to you both and thank you to all the students who participated. Below are some pictures of the Wacky Readers Display.
