The month of April is National School Library Month. On March 30th through April 3rd Riverbend Elementary celebrated School Library Month in a unique and STEM-TASTIC way! Each day was an exciting journey through different STEM and Reading activities that celebrated reading and Riverbend’s love of books. The theme for this year’s Literature Week Celebration was STEM. Riverbend students and staff have been working hard this year to be Problem Solving Panthers and have spent time each month focusing on a STEM activity. Our Literature Week Celebration was just an extension of that “STEM-minded culture” we are trying to foster at Riverbend. Students participated in buddy reading time, classroom STEM activities, dressing up as various characters/careers each day. Some of the highlights of the week were the NC Science Festival Science Night for students and their families; an author visit from Dawn Cusick author of Get the Scoop on Animal Poop; and Robotics Presentation by UNCA/NC State Engineering Dept. faculty and students! Students had a STEM-TASTIC time celebrating reading!!
