Riverbend Elementary is a Title 1 school. Title 1 is the largest federal aid program for our nation’s schools. The goals of a Title 1 school are to provide a high-quality education for every child, provide additional instruction to students needing extra help, and to involve parents and family members in their child’s education.
Riverbend is ranked number 1 out of 816 K-5 Title 1 elementary schools in the state. Riverbend has also been labeled a North Carolina Reward School. This means that we were recognized for being in the top ten percent of the Title 1 schools in North Carolina for three consecutive years. Last year we were also a National Title 1 School nominee. We believe that we are able to accomplish these high levels of success because of the great support that we receive from our parents and communities. We also believe that hard working students and teachers equal high achievement as well.
We sincerely want to thank you for your tremendous support and for the work that you do daily with your children. We want to take this time to suggest a few ways for you to be involved:
- Attend school events; attend parent-teacher conferences; visit the classrooms; volunteer
- Join our parent volunteer organization
- Utilize our Parent Resource Center, which is located in our library
We want to take this time to introduce our Title 1 staff.
*Cathi Burnette is a retired teacher of 33 years. After retiring, she worked at the ITC for 2 years before coming back to Riverbend as a part-time tutor. She will be working Monday-Thursday with grades 4 and 5.
As you can see we have a very talented staff with many years of experience working with our children. Please let us know if we can be of assistance to you in any way. We look forward to working with you and having a great year!
