Last Friday, our 3rd Graders were able to step back in time and visit a local landmark, The Biltmore Estate. It was a unique opportunity for our students to truly be immersed in the culture and lifestyle from long ago. Students took a tour of the home, exploring various rooms and followed in the footsteps of our beloved book character, Serafina. Our tour guide told us many interesting facts and stories about the Vanderbilts.
After a picnic lunch at the pavilion at Deer Park, we visited the farm at Biltmore. The students saw a blacksmith creating a metal S hook. They also interacted with quilt-making, musical instruments from Appalachia, and spent some time with the animals. It was an exciting learning opportunity that our students will not forget.
