Students in Mrs. Cable's reading groups have been reading and studying hot air balloons. To extend the learning even further, Mr. White, created a model to demonstrate how the hot air balloon works. Students in the 2nd grade classrooms were eager to see the hot air balloon model launch and learn how it works. In November, a full size hot air balloon will be visiting Riverbend for all grade levels to experience this unique opportunity.
Hot Air Balloon Visit
On November 15th, Riverbend students had an exciting visit from the Asheville Hot Air Balloon company. They brought a full size hot air balloon for student to see first hand. The guides from Asheville Hot Air Balloon explained to each class how the balloon works and safety procedures. Then each class got the opportunity to walk inside the partially inflated balloon for a photo session. Then students watched at a distance as the Asheville Hot Air Balloon company completely inflated the balloon for students to observe what happens when the balloon is full of hot air. It was a wonderful experience that students at Riverbend will never forget.
